I grew up in a stable but non-religious family, moving all over the country and finally landing in Kansas.  As a freshman at the University of Kansas, I befriended a large group of Christians and became an active member of a campus ministry. Though I faithfully attended every Bible study and weekly meeting, over time it became clear that my Christian friends had something that I didn’t. I would talk about God, but they would talk to God. This mysterious disconnect persisted until a men’s retreat, when I heard the gospel clearly presented. I realized that acting like a Christian did not make me a Christian, nor did praying some magic prayer. To be a follower of Christ I had to surrender.

Converted, regenerated, and changed, God taught me to put off personal ambition and self-reliance, and instead yield every area of my life to Him. The first result of this transformation was a commitment to serve as a missionary in Hungary for two years.  While in Hungary I sensed that this short-term “experiment” with full-time ministry was actually a lifelong call to serve the Lord in vocational ministry.  So, at the end of my two years, rather than entering business school, I enrolled at the Master’s Seminary in Sun Valley, California. 

Upon graduation I began serving as a full-time College and Evangelism pastor at an area church. One of my first orders of business was to befriend, date, and marry Becky, a beautiful, blonde, UCLA Bruin.  After our wedding in 2002, we took seriously God’s command to be fruitful and multiply, having four children (Julia, Nathan, Amberly, and Jacob) in just over five years of marriage.

In the summer of 2007, the elders of Flint Hills Bible Church called me to be their pastor.My wife and I eagerly accepted the call and moved with our four young children to Kansas.Our time here has been an absolute joy.As the people of FHBC have grown in their love for the Lord and devotion to His word, so have we.This church is our family and our home.It has been a profound privilege to serve as their pastor, and I pray that God will make me a shepherd worthy of this flock.

Ministry Responsibilities:

My primary purpose is to feed the flock with the Word of God. Whether it’s the Sunday morning sermon, Sunday School class, Monday men’s group, or personal counseling and discipleship times, God has called me to bring His Word to bear on all our lives.
